no I'm not doing CSE just for companies... I looked up the syllabus and IT doesn't have a lot of programming in it...

Can you ask someone who is currently doing IT, that do they have programming (like coding applications) in the IT syllabus?

Both have the same amount of coding AFAIK, but CS has extra hardware oriented subjects. If you're genuinely interested in programming, definitely go for CS, the extra knowledge never hurts, and knowledge about hardware always helps, even for writing software.

If u r afraid of coding forget CS and IT and IT has more coding than CS.....................I m currently doing IT and my friends from CS when compare the subjects with me IT definitely involves more coding and if u want hardware knowledge in the 4 year u will have the luxury to chose ur subjects u can do it there

brand of college matters more ,. comps /IT doesnt make much diffence. yes comps gives you an edge if u want to enter hardware industry. bt hardware jobs are very scarce in india and dey dnt go to average college fr placements . almost evry comps/IT student goes fr software . so IT from a good college wud be better.Come Fly With Me wrote:

see by going through all these posts i would like to clear your confusion regarding these two streams
1) CS mainly deals with the hardware of the system . Here hardware means the microprocessor , then memory organisations, then different peripherals like 8255,8254,8237 etc. it also has the programming part but this programming is the assembly language programming .not the software dev. /based prog.

2) whereas IT has the programming ie coding which is for program or for software dev. it also deals with the coding which has been included in n numbers of fields like gaming or creation of database and all. has topics like data base or structure mgmt with diff kinds of prog languages including SQ,ORACLE etc

now instead of comparing the stream directly please got through and then chose your stream
PLEASE DO NOT CHOSE THE STREAM REGARDING THE COMPANIES N PLACEMENTS etc

damn suyog now you've completely messed me up!

Are you sure about the info you've provided is correct?

I mean I am more interested in developing apps (for pc, mobiles, androids etc) rather than learning how languages work...

WHY ARE YOU SO MUCH DESPIRATE TO MAKE FUN OF YOURSELF !!!!
huh?
I mean I am more interested in developing apps (for pc, mobiles, androids etc) rather than learning how languages work...

so development of apps for pc, android n all has base of programing ie. coding only, n that's what IT people do . so my dear n SMART friend how can you develop them if you don't even know the language. just like sentence can' t be formed if u don't know the alphabets .
you might have came across java , symbian apps , games , systems ; they are self explanatory. so i think you have found out your answer by your self .
I again wish you best of luck.
suyog :)

All this going on can anyone tell me..............why the cutoffs for BSC-IT is greater than BSC-CS if CS has so much scope than IT..................se the newer field will be of low cutoff as compared to the older 1
