Rukmini Devi Institute of Advanced Studies (RDIAS), Madhuban Chowk

Location:

Rukmini Devi Institute of Advanced Studies (RDIAS) is located in Pitampura area in West Delhi. The nearest metro station is Pitampura on the red line and is bang opposite the college. Pitampura metro station is pretty famous as Madhuban Chowk as there is a four way road just below the metro. The metro feeders or Grameen seva charge Rs. 5 and drops you to the chowk from Rohini region. DTC buses have an excellent frequency. In short, accessibility to the college isn’t a problem and connectivity is superb.

Infrastructure:

Rukmini Devi, generally referred as RDIAS, has just about an average infrastructure with air conditioners only for ‘show’ purpose. The campus is pretty small and looks like a residential building. The washrooms are dirty most of the times. There is wifi connectivity in the campus but students are not allowed to use it. Fortunately, internet labs are something on which students survive on. All in all, the infrastructure is filled with drawbacks and needs immediate improvisation.

Courses Offered under IP University (GGSIPU):

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Master of Computer Application (MCA)

Fees & Placements:

Rs. 1 lakh per year

The placement section at RDIAS is nothing to boast about. Though the college website mentions hell lot of a thing, the average pay package a student gets here is roughly Rs. 3 lakhs per annum which is peanuts for an M B A. Moreover, the recruitments are done by small local companies and big names are not seen in the college premises. Federal Bank is one of the companies that recruits students in mass followed by ICICI and Pepsico. Apart from these well known names, local Delhi companies offer jobs to students.
The summer internship scene is also pretty bad. Students generally try to get their respective internship on contact basis or references. They prefer getting it off campus.

Faculty:

There are a bunch of new professors recruited in the college which definitely need enough experience in the teaching sector. Hardly, a few of the lecturers are well versed with their topics and students find sole satisfaction in their lectures.

Crowd & Campus Life:

Most of the students at RDIAS are obviously from Delhi and NCR belt. Boys to girls ratio is pretty decent. The campus life is pretty average as students are loaded with hundreds of assignments and case studies. There are recreational centres within the campus to kill stress. The canteen is pretty boring and has no variety. As the college is located in far West Delhi, there are no special hangouts nearby. Students generally have the roadside food or rush to CP, where the world is there (atleast for Delhi standards). Rithala Metro walk, Amusement Park is also the common hangout.

Festivals:

'Razmatazz', the cultural festival of RDIAS, is held in February.

Verdict:

One of the frustrated students quoted, “Rukmini Devi (RDIAS) should be the last choice on your list. If you don’t get anywhere, come here”. Do we need to mention more?
