ASM’s Institute of Computer Studies (ICS), Pimpri

Location:

The Institute of Computer Studies (ASM ICS) is located by the Mumbai-Pune highway in Pimpri and is thus pretty much accessible from most parts of the city. The only thing is that it’s a little too far for students coming from Southern Pune areas like Katraj.

 

Infrastructure:

The College building has a modern look and the infrastructure is awesome. “Yeh to hotel ki tarah lagta hai” is what your thoughts would be on seeing the college for the first time. The classrooms and labs are excellent and the laboratories are air-conditioned. There’s also provision for wi-fi but the connectivity is low and it’s accessible only from some parts of the building.

 

Fees and Placements:

The fees for the MCA program here is Rs. 92,000/year.
The college does try to get companies for placements but only 5-10 students finally get the jobs.

 

Faculty:

It is said that most professors are young and have newly joined the institute. They have little teaching experience but they do their best to teach the subject well. However, the students complain about a few professors not able to teach up to satisfactory levels.

 

Attendance:

Institute of Computer Studies (ASM ICS) isn’t too particular with the attendance issue. Students with below 60% attendance are put in the defaulters list against the regular 75%. Many times, students are let off even with below 60% . Harsh action is taken only after the attendance goes below 50%.

 

Crowd:

The students come from well-to-do families and overall the crowd is very decent and disciplined. Few students have job experience as well, but most of them are freshers. Number of boys to girls is around 2:1.

 

Canteen:

The canteen lacks enough space and you have to hunt for tables and chairs during lunch hours. The food is just about OK and its not at all cheap.

 

Festivals:

Insignia is the annual college festival. There are many other events happening in the ASM group’s sister institutes in which the students can participate.

Verdict:

Its just another average college. Not very exciting, not very boring.
