ASM’s Institute of Business Management & Research (IBMR), Chinchwad
Location:
ASM’s Institute of Business Management & Research (IBMR) is located near Mohan Nagar in Pimpri. It’s a 5-minute drive off the Mumbai-Pune highway in Pimpri and is thus pretty much accessible from most parts of the city. The only thing is that it’s a little too far for students coming from Southern Pune areas like Katraj. Chinchwad Railway station is also not too far.
Infrastructure:
The infrastructure of the MCA department is decent with a big library and enough books and journals available. High speed internet and wifi are the salient features. The MBA department’s library is at best OK and there’s a scarcity of the better books around. Another disadvantage is that the students are not allowed to browse through the books but have to ask for a particular one.
Fees and Placements:
The fees for the MCA program here is a shocking Rs. 1,05,000/year and for the MBA program is Rs. 1,20,000/-.
The MCA placements are nothing to boast about after paying such exorbitant fees. Just half the students are placed through campus placements and the rest have to hunt for jobs themselves. Companies like Syntel, Cognizant, Gensar and KPIT Cummins are major recruiters who offer packages in the range of Rs. 2.5 Lakh to 3.5 Lakh per year.
For MBA, marketing specialization offers the best placement opportunity-80% students get placed. The students are graded by the placement committee and different companies come for differently graded students.
Faculty:
The students are full of complaints about the faculty at IBMR. In their words, the professors are at best average and certainly not up to the mark. Even the final year MCA students are taught by junior professors, so you can imagine the level of experience of other faculty members.
Seminars and Industry Interaction:
Frequent seminars and presentations are organized by the college on interesting topics. MINDSCAPE is one of the events where loads of competitions and training programs are held. The students get the required industry exposure. The college also organizes an industrial visits to companies like Kingfisher and NIO every year.
Crowd & Campus Life:
The students come from well-to-do families and overall the crowd is very decent and disciplined. Students from Pune City are less compared to students from other cities. Few students have job experience as well, but most of them are freshers. Number of boys to girls is around 2:1. The college is also not very particular with the attendance issue. Warnings are issued below 75% placements but no harsh actions are taken. Campus life isn’t very stressful and time for recreation is always there.
Festivals:
Insignia is the annual college festival. There are many other events happening in the ASM group’s sister institutes in which the students can participate. IBMR’s Bizz is another popular event.

Verdict:
The fees for the MCA department is relatively higher and the placements aren’t that promising. It’s well known for its MBA program but its needs to go much further. It has great potential and improvement can be expected.
