Ness Wadia College of Commerce, Jog Path

Location:

Wadia College is probably one of the oldest and renowned colleges in Pune. It is located in one of the busiest areas of Pune and is 10 minutes away from Pune railway station. Even though the college is pretty famous, the most common landmark for this institution is Bund Garden. Every 5 minutes, you see a PMT bus passing through the Wadia College road. In spite of an amazing frequency of PMT buses, you find most of the students commuting by bikes.

Infrastructure:

Ness Wadia college of Commerce has just above average classrooms without Air Conditioner. The library is well equipped with books pertaining to accounts, finance and OC available all the time. There is no wifi in the campus but internet can be accessed in the labs provided you’ve your I-card. There is no hostel facility in the college.

Courses Offered:

  • Junior College for Commerce
  • Bachelor of Commerce (B.COM)
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
  • Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA)
  • Bachelor of Business Management (BBM)
  • Master of Commerce (M.COM)

Faculty:

There are a few teachers in Ness Wadia College who don’t have enough knowledge pertaining to their subject. Some even hesitate to talk in English. On the contrary professors for Economics and Banking are just class apart. They have immense knowledge relative to their subject and are equally co-operative. On a whole, English communication is a problem and teaching is just taken for granted.

Attendance:

11th and 12th grade students can enjoy their freedom in Wadia College of Commerce as there are no attendance issues. Contrary to this, the attendance for Degree College is pretty strict. Students have to keep a 70% at least but most of the defaulters escape with an attendance of 60% also. In worst cases, students are fined a whopping 1,500/- for extreme short of attendance. All in all, the attendance is pretty chilled out at Ness Wadia College

Crowd:

90% of the students are Pune localities, majority of which are from the city itself. Students staying on the outskirts of Pune tend to join colleges nearby their house. Even though most of the students come from a good background, you often see a few rowdy people. Commerce crowd isn’t that studious and extra curricular is given a lot of importance. Sports especially football is given a notable importance. There are a few students from the Gulf and Afghanistan, also.

Hangouts:

CCD, McDonalds, Vimanagar, Vohomans Café are one of the few common hangouts for Wadia students. Bund Garden food stall are the hot favourites amongst Wadia students. Apart from that Koregaon Park, Kalyani Nagar and Dhole Patil Road are one of the best food places where you can get unlimited variety at almost all possible costs.

Canteen:

Good food and spacious but during lunch times it becomes very crowded as the campus is shared by five other colleges. Students say that the noodles are ‘to die for’.

Festivals:

Wadia college has a common festival for all the streams under the name, ‘Infinity’, which is held usually in mid January.

Placements:

There are no companies that recruit BCOM students although BBM students do get placed.

Good, if you get through. As attendance is not an issue, this college is a hot favourite amongst the 11th and 12th grade. Also, location gives it an upper edge over other colleges.
