Abasaheb Garware College, Karve Road

Location:

Abasaheb Garware College is located on Karve Road which is pretty much accessible from all parts of the city. Students, however, prefer to get their own private two-wheelers. Bus connectivity is good for those who can’t.

Infrastructure:

The classrooms appear to be in a dilapidated condition and require urgent maintenance and upgradation. The labs are well-equipped but require better ventilation. A separate library and reading room provide good convenience for self-study.

Fees:

Approximately Rs. 3000-4000

Faculty:

The teaching is said to be moderate to good and students are satisfied to an extent. “Biology and Chemistry Departments have the most wonderful teachers. Physics department needs to be improved” quotes a junior college student. In the Senior College, the Electronics Department is said to have the best faculty.

Attendance:

This is one part that the students love about the college. They are given a lot of freedom when it comes to attendance and the college isn’t very strict about it. “We only attend practicals regularly” says a student of the college.

Crowd:

The crowd is quite decent. There are many students coming from outside the city to study here. The crowd differs from division to division.

Hangouts:

FC Road, E-Square, City Pride, Vaishali-Kapadia are a few of the innumerable places the students hangout.

Canteen:

“One word for it : HORRBILE” says a student who’s disgusted with the ambience, the food and the hygiene. Yet, there’s no enough place to sit during lunch time.

Festivals:

Not many festivals are celebrated, just the regular days and an annual gathering.

Placements:

If you have no backlogs and satisfy the particular company’s eligibility criteria the college completely supports you in getting placed.

Verdict:

The legacy of Abasaheb Garware college makes it one of the top choices amongst Science Colleges in Pune. Low attendance requirement is an added benefit for the Junior College students who get enough time to prepare for their MH CET.
