SVKM's Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics (NM), Vile Parle
Location:
NM is perhaps the most popular among the massive ‘league of extraordinary colleges’ situated in the Juhu-Vile Parle belt. There aren’t any major landmarks around NM, because NM is a landmark itself. It takes round about 7-10 minutes walking from Vile Parle Station (W. Railway & Harbour Railway)
Infrastructure:
One of the standout aspects of the college is its infrastructure. Not only is the infrastructure already quite good, but the college administration makes sure that the classes are revamped every once in a while, so as to keep up with modern standards. The college has an excellent library and a newly built canteen as well. All in all, grade A infrastructure.
Courses Offered:
- Junior College of Commerce(Regular & Vocational)
- Bachelor of Commerce (B.COM)
- Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS)
- B.COM in Accounting & Finance (BAF)
- B.COM in Banking & Insurance (BBI)
- B.COM in Financial Market (BFM)
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc IT)
- Master of Commerce (M.COM)
- Certified centre for CA Training & ICWA Training - Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)
Faculty:
Although faculty is normally the last thing on a student’s mind when he chooses NM, it still doesn’t undermine the fact that the faculty at NM is really really good. Most professors (Junior College as well as Graduation courses) are highly experienced, and quite friendly as well.
Crowd:
NM is probably best known because of its crowd and the ‘life’ at NM. Although you may expect zillions of nerds after looking at the cutoffs every year, this isn’t exactly the case. Yes, you do have a few anti-social elements, but the crowd as a whole is excellent. If you do your 10+2 and your graduation from NM, rest assured that you’ll have five fantastic years.
Attendance:
Attendance is slightly course-specific here. The junior college is rather strict about attendance, which means you need to maintain about 60% to be on the safe side.
Graduation is far more liberal; many students pursuing CA/CFA often have single digit attendance and get away with it.
Festivals:
NM has its annual fest Umang sometime in September or October. It is comfortably one of the biggest festivals in Mumbai.

10 min. before the bell rings n tell the students if u have any doubts then come to us..Sometimes they tell one of the students to come on stage n explain the topic to the other students in the class..Infrastr ucture is very good..
Also the faculty is very strict if anyone don't do their homework..they punish the students. They force the students to study harder..
I must say Best college in Mumbai....
