Issues encircling college and education expressed purely as Students' Opinions.

Nagindas Khandwala College of Arts, Commerce, Science and Management Studies, Malad.

Location:

Nagindas Khandwala College, generally referred as 'N.K’ is located on S.V. Road, Malad West and takes  about 10 minutes walking from Malad station. Since, the college is situated on the main road, commuting is not a problem. A major chunk travels by the local train while the rest come by BEST buses. Hardly, anyone gets their private vehicle to the college.

Infrastructure:

There are two buildings in the campus of NK College of which one is for school and the other is shared by Junior and Degree College students. As such, there is no campus space in the college, though the classrooms are well maintained with comfortable benches. Despite having air conditioners in the classroom, students are not allowed to use them. The library is quite huge with hundreds of volumes of various books along with a Wifi enabled campus.

Courses Offered:

  • Junior College of Arts, Science and Commerce
  • Bachelor of Commerce (B.COM)
  • Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS)
  • Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM)
  • B.COM in Accounting & Finance (BAF)
  • B.COM in Banking & Insurance (BBI)
  • B.COM in Finance and Management (BFM)
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc)
  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A)
  • Master of Commerce (M.COM)
  • Master of Science (M.Sc)
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
  • Master of Management Studies (MMS)

Faculty:

Teaching at NK College is quite average with a lot of young professors. The college lacks experienced staff and there are no particular subjects whose teachers are to be boasted about.  Though most of the teachers communicate in English, the major drawback is years of experience.

Attendance:

Students are forced to maintain a 75% of attendance. If you fall below this mark, warnings are given after which your dear parents are called to the college office. In worst case scenario, students are demoted to the evening college, the timings of which are from 6 PM to 9 PM. Quite rare and astonishing, but the college authorities have done that in the past.

Crowd:

As the name of the college suggests, there is a Gujarati Linguistic Minority Quota in NK College. Most of the students are from the nearby suburbs from Borivali till Goregaon with lack of persona. Some are extremely serious when it comes to studies, while some just enjoy life. Overall the crowd is just about average and there is nothing great to look for.

Hangouts:

Firestation, the most famous snooker parlour in the nearby locality, is one of the most visited places by the NK dudes. There are a few food parlours at the end of the lane whose food are just about edible. The college lacks any great nearby hangout, hence most of the times, Inorbit Mall on Malad Link road is the savior for these students.

Canteen:

The canteen food is edible and decently tasty. Even though, the cost of the food items is not heavy on your pockets, students complain about the space as it is extremely suffocating. Pav Bhaji and frankies are the hot favourite items of this canteen.

Festivals:

Kiran, the annual festival of NK College, is held in August. Apart from this, each department also have their separate festivals.

Verdict:

If you’ve a better choice in hand, go for that. The college is good for an average or below average scorer who stays in the Northern suburbs.
