Location:
Patkar College is located in Goregaon West on SV Road and is less than 5 minutes walking from Goregaon Railway station. The college has a good name and is quite famous amongst the FYJC and SYJC students. Most of the students commute by train while a few choose to travel BEST buses as its frequency is amazing.
Infrastructure:
The building of Patkar-Varde college is just about okay but the Science labs are kept quiet neat and clean with all apparatus available. Sadly, the washroom stinks and is quite dirty. There is an open space in between the Commerce and the Science - Arts building, students call it as ‘the’ campus, where you find majority of the students. The library of Patkar College is okay with decent availability of books. Social Networking lovers have to be really patient as the college doesn’t provide Internet facility.

Faculty:
The faculty of Patkar College is quite average. While most of the professors are MSc’s, a few of the professors don’t have complete knowledge regarding the subject. Lecturers usually communicate in English but most of them use regional languages. Also, the science faculty is pretty strict when it comes to submissions. Commerce faculty, too, is not something great to look for.
Attendance:
Patkar College is quite strict when it comes to attendance. Though 75% is compulsory, sometimes 60-65% is also tolerated. Below this mark, either parents are called or the student are harassed during submissions.
Crowd:
Since Patkar has a Maharashtrian Quota, majority of the students are Marathi. Science, Commerce and Arts crowd is just about okay with no pretty faces and charming personality. On the contrary, BMM crowd is way above average and definitely raises the bar of Patkar College. ‘Probably every year you see a foreigner student in the Science department’, as said by one of the boys with a smiling face. Overall the crowd is pretty much serious and studious but you can expect some great participation in extra curricular activities from the Arts and BMM fellows.
Hangouts:
Since the college is located on SV Road, you don’t expect major hangouts near by the college apart from a few restaurants and local tapris. Most of the Patkar-ites bunk their classes and go to Inorbit mall and the Mindspace (back road) area. You can expect to see few of the students eating various things immediately outside Goregaon station.
Canteen:
The canteen of Patkar – Varde College is decently spacious but is too suffocating. The canteen lacks enough tube lights and seems dull during most parts of the day. The food is just edible while cost is not an issue. You can expect a lot of time pass items like chocolates, chips and biscuits inside the canteen apart from the regular food. Gossip mongers choose canteen for their private chit chat.
Festivals:
Mediatainment and Spatan are the two festivals held in Patkar college in the month of February.
Placements:
BSC and BMS students get placed. Unfortunately, there aren’t any companies recruiting the BMM kids.

Verdict:
Patkar is one of the top rated colleges in the western suburbs and should be a good choice after a few top rung colleges. Though the crowd and infrastructure is not appealing, but the name Patkar – Varde, has its legacy going since years.
