SV Union High School and Jr College, Rasta Peth

Location:

SV Union College is located at Somwar Peth in the Rasta Peth area. Located in an area that’s relatively central Pune, getting to the college from any part of the city is not an issue. Buses from all over the city and station ply to the college, and the frequency is good. So it’s not at all difficult to get to the college, nor do you have to wait a lot to get there.

Infrastructure:

The college campus comprises of 4 main buildings, allotted to science and commerce departments. The labs for science departments are good and more importantly maintained very well, by which we mean, they don’t stink of H₂S. Clean Basically! The classrooms are big and spacious and the cleanliness is at par with the labs. Library is good, and almost all the books are available easily. No issues there.

Fees:

Aided: Rs.4,600/-(approx.)
Un-Aided: Rs.10,000/-(approx.)

Faculty:

The staff is good, and co-operative. They make you feel in an environment where you would want to learn, and not just attend. Good mix of Senior and Junior professors but juniors are few. They do appear strict but that’s of course to get work done from you.

Attendance:

Majority of the people attend college religiously. 75% is what the college expects, but students attend anyway, so no conflict about that has been observed. Although the prelim exams conducted by the college, witnesses low attendance.

Crowd:

The crowd is a blend of nerds (who still think they’re at school) and others who want to take some freedom, make new friends, and hangout, because they’re into a college now. Having said that, its not too hard to make friends and have fun with.

Hangouts:

No Bunking as such, so no hanging out too! But many a times students meet at the college gate and go around to the plenty of options available to hang around like malls, and cafés around the station area.

Canteen:

No Canteen.

Festivals:

No festival particularly, but celebrations include Annual Days, and Farewell Parties.

Verdict:

It’s a good college, for those who want to study with 100% dedication. Its basically high on discipline.
