Location & Infra:

The sprawling campus of the Indian Institute of Managemet (IIM) is spread over 100 acres in a good area of Bangalore. It houses hostels for both boys and girls. Don’t be fooled by the princely stone buildings; there is nothing ancient about them from the inside – they have all sorts of modern facilities, such as a massive library with over 50,000 books, air-conditioned lecture halls, and a well-equipped gymnasium. The campus is fully wi-fi enabled.

Fees & Placements:

While taking admission into one of the top IIMs, fee structure isn’t something that should bother a candidate. You more than make up for the high fee you pay, with some excellent placements. Anyway, for those who love to make a note of statistics, IIM B charges Rs. 15 Lakhs.

Since 2006 IIM B doesnt disclose pay package but it is a well known secret that companies pay them handsomely, in fact very handsomely. The placement set-up is such that every student who applies for placements definitely gets placed, and that too in a world-class company with a profile of his/her choice. Faculty & Pedagogy:

Being one of the best B-schools of the country, naturally IIM Bangalore has fantastic faculty. In fact, they recently added 23 new highly renowned professors from universities like Wharton to their staff.

The pedagogy at IIM Banglore is quite case-study oriented, a unique distinction which sets  it aside from the other B-schools of the country.

Crowd & Campus Life:

Like you would find in most of the top-notch B-schools, engineers dominate the numbers at IIMB (though some blogs say it’s an ‘eclectic’ crowd). The ratio of freshers to students with work experience is rather low – about 2/7.

Another thing you come to expect at a top Bschool is a high level of competition, and IIMB doesn’t disappoint; students are said to be more goal-oriented and less learning-oriented, and exhibit real cut-throat competition.

There are a number of clubs that students vie to be a part of. IIM Bangalore has a ‘DJ Night’ once every two weeks. They have a 24 hour canteen here, and students are found hanging out (studying) here even at ungodly hours.

Corporate Connections and International Associations:

Infosys has a corporate tie-up with IIM Bangalore to carry out case-studies for the IT giant. They have various other tie-ups as well, with big players such as Intel, Sasken, Wipro.

IIM B has tie-ups with Dartmouth University and the extremely reputed Sloan School of Management, MIT.

Summer Placements:

Summer placements are, as you would expect, excellent. Almost one third of the batch got placed in the first round of summer placements itself. McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, BCG, Kraft foods, Coca Cola were some of the major companies that offered students summer placements.

Special Attributes:

The most special attribute of IIM Bangalore is, well, the fact that it’s IIM Bangalore. Without doubt one of the best B Schools in India, you can rest assured that if you graduate from here, your life is pretty much made.

Additionally, IIMB has exchange programs with UCLA, Stanford, Nanyang University and London Business School.
