Maharaja Agrasen College (MAC), Vasundhara Enclave

Location:

Maharaja Agrasen College (MAC) has been recently relocated to Vasundhara Enclave near Mayur Vihar Phase 3 off Dallupura Road just somewhere around where Noida starts. The closest Metro Station – Mayur Vihar Phase 1 on the Blue Line – isn’t really close by and it takes a 15-20 minute bus ride (provided by the college) to reach there from the college. The remote location of the college makes it a little unsafe for girls to venture out alone after evening hours.

Infrastructure:

Maharaja Agrasen College (MAC) displays a sparkling new building and a very clean campus at first sight. The insides of the campus continue to impress; modernized classrooms, well-equipped laboratories and up-to-date library are some of the highlights. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled with good connectivity and speed.

Courses offered under University of Delhi:

  • BA (Hons) Business Economics (BBE)
  • BA Programme & BA (Hons) English, Hindi, Journalism, Political Science
  • BCom (Hons)
  • B.Sc Applied Physical Sciences (Computer Science)
  • B.Sc (Genl) Mathematical Science
  • B.Sc (Hons) Electronics

Faculty:

Students coming in with great expectations are bound to be shattered since the faculty here is indifferent to the students’ learning. Majority of the teachers are not inclined towards creating interesting learning sessions for the students. Students complain of irregularity in the lectures conducted.

Attendance:

Students with 80% and above attendance are given full marks allotted to this criteria and they keep losing marks proportionately up to 66%; below which they are given no marks for attendance and warnings are shot at. However, no severe action is said to be taken.

Crowd:

Most of the crowd comes from Delhi and Noida or at the most Ghaziabad. Friendly and enthusiastic faces can be seen amongst the BCom(H) and BBE students whereas the crowd from other BA programmes appears to be a bit conservative. At Maharaja Agrasen College there isn’t much hullabaloo about the University elections and there are absolutely no fights over petty issues unlike other Delhi University Colleges.

Canteen:

A hygienic and spacious canteen serves the students with reasonably cheap food (nearly everything is priced at or below Rs. 20/-). Rajma Chawal is the favourite among the students here.

Hangouts:

Dominos which is right opposite Maharaja Agrasen College is the most popular and perhaps the only decent hangout worth visiting NEAR the college. Apart from this every place is almost an half-an-hour drive from the college.

Festivals:

“Yuvaan” is the cultural festival celebrated at Maharaja Agrasen College sometime in February, and thus making it one of the most exciting time of the year. The college and the principal are very supportive of cultural activities leading to a more culturally inclined environment. One event or the other keeps cropping up round the year to keep you engaged with something. Apart from this, the college also organizes trips and treks for the students.

Placements:

The college supports students who wish to go for placements and they get placed from the Central Placement Cell (CPC). But few students opt for this and most of them go for higher studies, except may be BBE students who get phenomenal placements.

Verdict:

The infrastructure and facilities would perhaps be the only reason to opt for this college. There is little studies and its slightly remote location don't make Maharaja Agrasen College (MAC) one of the top choices amongst students.
