Location:

Chetana’s Institute of Management and Research, fondly called as Chetana, is a 15-20 minute walk from Bandra railway station. Most of the students prefer the share auto rickshaws which drop you to the college gate while some prefer the local BEST buses. The college is pretty famous in Bandra locality and is located off the Western Express Highway. In short, accessibility to the college is pretty easy.

Infrastructure:

There are two buildings for the management students in the Chetana campus. The MMS course is conducted in the old building and shares its classes with the commerce students. Having said that the infrastructure of the old building is pretty pathetic and nothing much to boast about. The new building is separated from the old one by a playground which is in an extremely bad condition.
The new building has good air conditioned classrooms, wifi connectivity and a gymkhana. There are projector facilities within the classrooms which gives a modern feeling to the students. The library is well equipped with books of all the various courses in MBA. Students say that books are more than needed in the library. All you can do is, hope what they say is true!

Fees & Placements:

Rs. 1,35,000/- per year

“Even though the college website mentions 100% placements, please don’t be enticed by it”, quotes a second year MBA student with a ‘YOU CAN WIN’ book in his hand. Still, the placements aren’t that bad. Atleast 60% of the students get placed though most of it is unsatisfactory. Average annual pay package is Rs. 3-5 lakhs depending upon the company that recruits you. Budding businessmen a.k.a. entrepreneurs, are highly motivated by the college authorities to pursue their passion. Alumni of Chetana college also helps in placements.
Summer internships are in good numbers and most of the gets placed. Some or most try on their own while the lucky and the deserving ones get placed by the placement cell.

Faculty and Pedagogy:

The teaching staff at Chetana college is pretty impressive. Most of the teachers have immense knowledge in their respective subjects. Professors from the Operations Department have almost 25-30 years of experience. Rocking, isn’t it? At the same time, students feel the marketing department is the best of the lot. Finance department has a lot of teachers who have the certified Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst degrees. After all these lauding words for the permanent teachers, Chetana has a good bunch of visiting faculties from IIM’s. Certainly, faculty is something that would drive you crazy for CIMR.

Crowd and Campus Life:

80% of the crowd is from the local city, Mumbai. Boys to girls ratio is pretty much equal. Campus life is pretty average. Students are piled up with loads of assignment work and seminars. Some find the MBA life stressful. The gymkhana and canteen are the stress buster places within the college. Canteen food is decent, good to taste and economical.

Festival and Events:

There is an Alumni meet every year which is a good socialising and networking moment for all the students. Khandelwala Case Study (KCS), Jagruti, Elixir and many other events are held round the year in Chetana College.

Verdict:

CIMR certainly is not among the top institutes in the country. Ranked moderately in Mumbai, Chetana’s Institute of Management and Research is a good bet for an average scorer in MH-CET. Less fun and lack of excellent campus life followed by rigorous studies are the factors that one should keep in mind while joining this college.
