Bhai Parmanand Institute of Business Studies, Shakarpur

Location:

Bhai Parmanand Institute of Business Studies, usually referred as BPIBS, is located in the district of Shakarpur in far North East of Delhi. Nirmaan Vihar on the blue line is the nearest metro station and is roughly 10-12 minutes from the college. DTC buses run with an excellent frequency and drop you right outside the Metro station. Buses to the college are few. All in all, the college is conveniently accessible.

Infrastructure:

The very small campus of BPIBS comprises a college building, very small parking lot and somewhat a green garden. The four storey college building has non air conditioned classrooms and just about comfortable benches. The auditorium and laboratories are equipped with an air conditioner and projector. The library is air conditioned and has books in decent number of various courses offered within management. The wifi enabled campus but lacks a hostel facility.

Courses Offered:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Master of Computer Application (MCA)

Fees & Placements:

Fees vary with the course but for MCA it’s generally around 40,000 per annum.

The placement standards of Bhai Parmanand Institute of Business Studies are pretty normal and average. Generally local companies are seen in the college at the time of placement season recruiting a handful of students and offering a pay package of around Rs. 3.5 lakhs per annum. Good, reputed, well known and big names are rarely seen in the college. The scenario is the same for summer internship as well. Students have to try on their own. Apart from DMRC and NCR Corporation, there are no other recruiters seen in the campus of BPIBS.

Faculty:

Fortunately, one can expect a good lot of professors in this college. Most of them are UPSC passed and probably is one of the criteria to qualify for teaching in this college. Students like the way professors conduct their respective lectures and passionately dive deep into the topic. There are visiting faculties from Delhi University (DU) and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) which are thoroughly qualified and highly experienced. Though most of the communication takes place in Hindi, students like the rapport shared with their teachers.

Seminars and Industry Interaction:

There are seminars held in the college auditorium though not on a large scale. Industry interactions are pretty rare. Students rarely visit any company thus are unaware of how the company runs. Overall exposure is definitely very less and the college should take immediate steps to improve the current scenario.

Crowd & Campus Life:

As the college is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), certainly major students are from the main city of Delhi. Boys to girls ratio is pretty much equal though the former are a few more. The college has recreational facilities like table tennis, carom chess and a gymkhana to suit your needs.
The campus life is pretty dull as students generally don’t stay in the campus after college hours. India Gate, Pragati Maidan, Trimurti, and V3S mall are the standard places where you see college students.

Verdict:

Bhai Parmanand Institute of Business Studies is certainly not the best B-school in Delhi and should be preferred only if you’re aiming for a low cost post graduation institution. Good faculty and well known for it’s MCA course, BPIBS certainly needs to improve it’s placement and seminar/IV scenario to join the good league of B-schools.
