The teaching staff at Ambedkar Institute of Technology is improving over the years. Students in the past weren’t satisfied with the level of teaching but now they seem quite content. The teachers for Circuits & Systems, DBMS are quite popular in the Computer department for the way they teach and interact with students. The faculty for Mathematics is pretty average and students demand for a change. Most of the lectures are experienced and are qualified while a few are freshers and need to be polished thoroughly. The lectures are conducted in English and Hindi, depending upon the mood of the teacher.

The college infrastructure is just about average with a very small campus and less greenery as compared to the other Delhi colleges. There are two lecture buildings which have decent classrooms and sometimes neat and clean washrooms. The classrooms aren’t air conditioned while the library and labs are. There’re books available in abundance in the library and hence running here and there and borrowing books from your ‘friends’ is not an issue here. The campus isn’t wifi enabled, though the college staff can access internet. The college has a huge playground, though not green, but you see students loitering around there most of the times. There’s enough parking space for two wheelers.

TCS is the major recruiter for Ambedkar engineering college followed by some banking sector companies like HSBC and Standard Chartered. Syntel and Indian Army also pop in at the time of the placement season. Roughly, all the students get placed with an average salary of 3.5 lakhs per annum though the highest goes till 6-7 lakhs depending upon the company and the job profile offered. The college has a good placement record.

Ambedkar Institute of Technology is equidistant from two metro stations located on different lines viz, Shastri Park on the Red Line and Nirman Vihar on the Blue Line. Hence, connectivity to the college is pretty superb. The college is located in the famous Geeta Colony in East Delhi very close to the main road and is roughly 5-7 minutes drive by the metro feeder whose frequency is quite awesome. The DTC buses also run with a good frequency but students prefer the metros and the feeders.

Even though the food prices are easily affordable in the canteen, it lacks variety and taste. Students often complain about the variety yet there isn’t any improvement. There is no speciality in the canteen and students tend to get their own dabba or eat outside.

As metro stations are pretty nearby, the happening Connaught Place in Rajiv Chowk (merely 15 minutes in the metro) is one of the standard hangouts for the students of this college. Apart from CP, Kamla Nagar and a few stereotype malls like V3S and GIP are extremely popular within the student community. There are no immediate hangouts to the college apart from a few roadside food joints.

Most of the students are from the main city of Delhi and other parts of the NCR region. Moreover, you see students from Bihar, Harayana and Punjab in every batch. Boys to girls ratio is 70:30 which is very obvious in the engineering world. Ragging is strictly prohibited and there have been no cases in the past. Overall, the crowd is quite friendly and mixing.

“Attendance purely depends on the mood of the teacher”, as quoted by a bunch of students. It is extremely teacher dependent. In short, you’ve maintain your relations with the professors to a very good level. Still, an attendance of around 50% is tolerated and most of them follow this mark quite seriously.

Less fees, good location, and decent crowd makes this college a huge hit among the engineering aspirants. Ambedkar Institute of Technology is certainly one of the upcoming and developing colleges and almost shares the podium with high ranking colleges in Delhi.
