Most of the faculty flagged off their teaching careers with the establishment of Mumtaz College of Engineering & Technology itself. So although they weren't experienced then, they've gained about 4-5 years of experience by now.

The campus and the building aren't appealing. There's a small entrance followed by a big barren ground which you have to cross before reaching the main building. Once in, don't expect any significant changes - labs are short of equipments, classrooms seem gloomy and passageways may even remind you of horror movies.

Mumtaz College of Engineering & Technology is a 10-minute walk from main road in Malakpet. RTC buses like 1L, 1V, 8V, 1D, 84, 84H, 84S, 86N, 86S, 94L, 96N, 99K, 99M and series of 100 & 158 should bring you near the college from almost any corner of the city. That is probably the reason why over 80% of the students prefer commuting by RTC buses apart from the fact that there's no college bus facility.

Hostel facilities are not provided and when asked about Internet access, students thought we'd gone crazy! "Haven't heard of such a thing, NO!" exclaimed one.

It's no bigger than a Maruti 800! The college authorities do not encourage students hanging around during college time and so they've taken away their favorite place - the canteen

Since Mumtaz College of Engineering & Technology is a minority institute, more than two-thirds of the seats are reserved for Muslims. On the whole, over 90% of the students studying here are Muslims and many of them come from North-Indian states too.

Mumtaz College of Engineering & Technology is fairly relaxed with disciplinary rules. There are minimum restrictions and students are free to enter and leave the campus at all times provided they fulfill the mandatory 75% attendance. Those who fail to do this have to shell out fines to the tune of Rs. 3000-Rs. 5000.

Location and faculty, to some extent, provide a little boost to Mumtaz College's reputation. But it's got a long way to go before it can feature anywhere close to the top Engineering colleges in Hyderabad.
