Malla Reddy College of Engineering and Technology (MRCET), Medchal

Malla Reddy College of Engineering and Technology (MRCET) is located on the outskirts of north-Hyderabad, about 5 kms from Kompally and 25 kms from Koti. Frequency of RTC buses up to Kompally is excellent but as thousands of students are headed to the 20-odd engineering colleges in the area, buses are overcrowded. People are seen hanging on to whatever part of the bus they can find with a constant fear of being pushed down. College buses are more convenient but 10 times as expensive.

Malla Reddy College of Engineering and Technology (MRCET) flaunts excellent infrastructural facilities. Air-conditioned labs, a well-stocked library and seamless Internet access through the digital library are available for the students. Moreover, classrooms are well ventilated and hardly a few things create any trouble.

A couple of hostels are shared between all the Malla Reddy Institutes creating an obvious space crunch. Other than that, they're manageable with the biggest advantage being a very relaxed atmosphere with little restrictions on timings. Yet, many who cannot adjust opt for one of the hundreds of other hostels available in the area.

Rs. 35,000 per year

Malla Reddy College of Engineering and Technology (MRCET) is popularly known for its aeronautical engineering course. However, those who've opted for it, beg to differ, stating that they expected much better faculty. CSE and ECE departments, though, have pretty good teachers while the others have average ones.

Attendance & Discipline:

Just like the other Malla Reddy Institutions, Malla Reddy College of Engineering and Technology (MRCET) is strict about attendance and discipline. Everyone needs to attend at least 75% of the lectures so as to be allowed to appear for University exams. However, it's considerate if students have genuine reasons and tries to enforce minimum restrictions.

Helpful but uninteresting at times.

There are 3 canteens in the Malla Reddy Institutions campus and students are free to use any of them. Varieties offered are great and after trying each canteen a couple of times, students stick to the one they find the most suitable.

Owing to a severe lack of interesting places around the campus, most people prefer taking a ride all the way to Kompally, where they can find everything from movie theatres, fast food centres, ice cream and juice parlours and even Go-Karting and billiards.

'Exburenza' is a technical cum sports festival celebrated at Malla Reddy College of Engineering and Technology (MRCET) sometime in October. Students look forward to it as interesting events like Robotics, plane making, short films are conducted. Apart from 'Exburenza' there are numerous workshops on ethical hacking, web designing and more.

Malla Reddy College of Engineering and Technology has recently shown tremendous growth and job offers to MRCETians often exceed those to MREC students. CSE, IT and ECE departments outperform the others.

MRCET is improving quickly and at this rate it should easily topple the other non-performing institutes to become one of the topmost choices in the Medchal region.
