The faculties are quite experienced but the problem is that they keep changing frequently. The teachers are many a times indifferent to whether students have understood or not. They themselves are adept at their subjects but aren’t able to or interested in making students grasp what they teach. Students don’t know who to blame.

At a glance you can’t judge the enormity of campus hiding behind the building near entrance. The college is divided in 3 blocks. The college is 28 year old and so is some of the lab equipment here. The classrooms are decent but no AC in them. The library is quite big. There are play grounds and other facilities for sports available.

Most of the companies visiting here are the small and mid-sized IT companies. These companies usually have foreign clients and most of them offer BPO jobs. The median salary offered here would be of Rs 1.8 LPA. Some of the companies that visit the college: Red Cell Technologies, CPLR Softtech Pvt. Ltd., Modi Industries Ltd., Protech Softech.
There had been a strike by the students regarding placements after which the scenario has improved partially.

The college is located in Selaiyur area of Tambaram, a distant southern suburb of Chennai. It is easily accessible by MTC buses. Nearest bus stop Indranagar is just over 5 minutes by shank's pony. However the roads leading to the college are not in good condition. Although far from city, the area is not deserted, it is rather a residential one. Owing to many North Indians studying here, there are lots of North Indian food joints bang opposite the college.

Hostels have both AC and Non-AC rooms. You can choose either but will have to pay accordingly. The mess food is pretty decent; they also serve North Indian food.

Canteen is nowhere near good. The food may just be edible but there’s no variety at all. You get only South Indian dishes here.
There are many 'dhabas' bang opposite the college. The students are often seen outside in these dhabas satiating their hunger and taste buds. These eateries do cover cuisine all over the country from Assam to Andhra.

Bharath University is one of the few engineering colleges in Chennai where you will find a truly diverse crowd. You will probably find students from all the states in the country. Students do talk here in Hindi which can be a succour for many of the students from the Northern India.

Eklavaya is the annual technical festival of college. The festival is no great; just another college festival where only the organisers are the enthusiastic souls.
Since the last 2 years there have been no festivals.

Bharath University had earlier never been particular about attendance but recently they have started to take attendance seriously. Formals also have been made compulsory; the watchman will stop you at the gate itself if you are not wearing them. A good rapport with him will help him condone it.
Even if you do clear the first barrier of watchman, be careful as, if the management catches you, you will have to part with your id card.

Note: Bharath University is a not affiliated to Anna University but a Private University.
Bharath University is one of the oldest private colleges that has been converted to a deemed university. If you are from North India it can be easy for you to gel with the crowd here. Overall it is an average college.
