The faculty at Osmania University College of Engineering (OUCE) is one of the best amongst engineering colleges in Hyderabad. More than two-thirds of the professors are experienced and brilliant at teaching. "It's the remaining one-third that get to our nerves sometimes" says a student of the college. "Their subject knowledge is poor and so are their communication skills" he continues. However, the senior faculty more than compensates for these 'intolerable lecturers' and the student community is absolutely content with the teaching here.

There are about a dozen other colleges, numerous hostel blocks, staff quarters and a lush green landscape garden apart from the University College of Engineering (UCE). The college premises are spread out into separate blocks for every department. The interiors of the University College of Engineering, Osmania University (UCE OU) remind you of ancient Indian architecture - large passageways, high ceilings in classrooms, pure wood doors. But labs, equipments, classrooms are regularly updated making utmost use of the UGC grants. Two dedicated computing centres - C-cube and TDC - provide uninterrupted Internet access.

Basically, the college is very accessible and you'll find the most suitable way to reach here in a week or two.

Boys claim that their hostel rooms are not presentable although they are sufficiently big to conveniently accommodate 2 or even 3 roommates. The recently inaugurated girls hostel has definitely created some sparks. "It's splendid" exclaims a bunch of girls, who are overjoyed.

Moreover, the place is a little gloomy and students claim that the menu doesn't have a pleasing effect on the taste buds. "We prefer eating at the other canteens in the campus. There are about 5 or 6." says a student. "Or sometimes we just go out of the campus" says another.

Osmania University's central location provides access to tons of eateries, movie theatres and ice cream parlours. Himayat Nagar is a 15-minute drive and students don't hesitate to jump on their bikes and vroom! Dadu's, KFC, Chutneys, Pizza Corner, Domino's, McDonald's, Subway, Cafe Coffee Day - you name it and it's there. Or if the mood is to just stroll by Hussain Sagar, Tank Bund isn't too far either. Or if it's been a tiring day, you can just find a cool place in the campus itself.

Although maximum seats are reserved for Andhra Pradesh students (60% for Telangana region, 30% for rest of the state), few seats are termed "Unreserved" and are filled in by students from all over the country or even outside the country. Seniors seldom act dominating and although there are no accounts of ragging, first years are expected to follow certain rules set by them. "Initially, they may hate us. But gradually it leads to more interaction and better bonding" says a final year student.

According to the prescribed rules, students at University College of Engineering (UCE), Osmania University (OU) are expected to maintain above 75% attendance or up to 65% attendance in case of medical reasons. No one dares to fall below the minimum mark unless he/she is absolutely certain of convincing the principal to rule in his/her favour. However, apart from the attendance criteria, the college hasn't introduced any unnecessary rules such as dress codes or a closed gate system. College timings are 9:00am to 4:40pm (on full days, i.e., labs + theory classes).
