The Pharmacy department boasts of an outstanding faculty – senior and well-qualified professors with countless years of experience form a major chunk of the faculty here. BCA, MCA and Unani departments are also comparable to the pharmacy department. BTech, MBA and few other recently started courses, however, currently lack appropriate faculty but are expected to follow the footsteps of the former departments and maintain the same class of teachers in the future.
Communication is strictly in English since a lot of students are from abroad.

Jamia Hamdard University’s campus is spread over huge area (more than two hundred acres) and is home to various departments like Pharmacy, IT and Medicine. Each department has its own academic block which doesn’t boast of the best infrastructure in the world but is enough for a student’s need. Average classrooms and laboratories along with a small departmental library are a part of each academic block. There is also a big Central Library with enough sitting space and all kinds of books easily available. Wi-Fi connectivity is also available in a few selected areas of the campus.

Tremendous placements have been recorded for Pharmacy and MCA students; while pharmacy students mostly opt for higher studies, MCA students work with companies like TCS, Wipro, BHEL, Oracle, Indiabulls – salaries going as high as 5.5 lakhs a year. Placements for MBA and BTech aren’t too much to boast about but they are said to be improving year on year. BCA students, however, claim get no placements on campus and they have to hunt for jobs themselves.

Jamia Hamdard Deemed University is located off Mehrauli-Badarpur Road (MB Road) right next to Batra Hospital. Saket Metro Station on the Yellow line and Kalkaji & Tuglukabad Metro station on the Violet line are almost equidistant from the University but none of them are too close and you have to finally reach the college using road transport namely DTC buses and rickshaws, snatching away another 10-15 minutes of your precious time every day.

There are around 4-5 canteens in the campus – lots of food varieties, you must think – but a lack of hygiene discourages students to munch on their favourite dishes. The prices are reasonable and exactly what a college canteen should have.

Right outside the gate of Jamia Hamdard is Mehrauli-Badarpur road, which is as busy and dusty as a highway and finding a nice place to chill somewhere close could be an arduous task. Most of the students travel up to Saket where they get a plethora of options to choose from.

Because of the 50% minority reservation at Jamia Hamdard, the crowd is predominantly Muslim. Plenty of students from foreign countries are seen dawdling around in the campus, in fact, numbers go as high as 25 in a batch of 60. The crowd in the Unani department appears a little conservative but other departments are quite friendly and although the crowd isn’t too enthusiastic it’s mixing enough.

Countless festivals are organized by the various committees in every department – some of which are intra-department, some intra-college and few others inter-college. “Rx”, a technical-cum-cultural festival organized by the Pharmacy department is one of the most popular amongst students here. Mosaic and Nerdz are another set of cultural and technical events.

Jamia Hamdard University allows slight relaxation in attendance; students with up to 50% attendance are allowed to appear for exams on the condition that they perform certain additional tasks such as extra assignments or promise to compensate for attendance in the following term. No harsh action is taken for attendance between 50%-75% although 75% is mandatory.

Jamia Hamdard University is a must take for Pharmacy (certainly the best in Delhi and perhaps among the top three in the country), Unani, BCA and MCA. Other courses like BTech and MBA should be avoided if better options are at hand.
