Teachers are very hard working and dedicated. But students often complain about the lack of quality teaching as most of them don't follow what is being taught. But the role of a teacher an engineering institute (or any professional course for that matter) is to merely help you out and it is the student has to do all the self study to fetch good grades, isn't it?

Well the campus of NPTI Badarpur is not very big and it doesn't have large and glamorous buildings but it does suffice the infrastructural needs of engineering students. Classroom in the two building are comfortable and well ventilated, computer lab and the well-stacked library are fully air-conditioned. Most important - it has its own 210 MW stimulator which is not present not even in IITD. However, some labs like electrical need improvement as most of the instruments present there are obsolete. NPTI doesn't have their own playground but students generally avail the facilities of NTPC playground and their badminton court for which they have to literally beg to NTPC's officials.

The placement scene has improved a lot in recent years. In fact now the most attractive point of NPTI Badarpur is that it has been offering more than 100% placements (i.e 100% plus multiple offers to a few students) in core companies. For some of the batches though, due to economic slowdown and coal scams placement had dipped to 80-85%. Over 20 companies recruit from here of which the major recuiters are Reliance Power, Alstom and Bechtel. Average package is 4 Lakh per annum and highest is something around 6 Lakh per annum.

One of the 8 National Power Training Institutes set up in various parts of India by ministry of Power is NPTI - Badarpur located inside Badarpur power plant on Mathura road in south Delhi near the Delhi-Faridabad border. Also called NPTI-NR (north region), the college is located in one of the outermost areas of Delhi i.e Badarpur but it is well connected by buses, metro and railway as Tughlakabad railway station is at a walking distance from college campus. As institute is well connected by bus which also work out to be cheaper due to monthly passes, most students prefer to travel by buses. Students coming from outside of Delhi might find it a bit inaccessible and travelling could be cumbersome for them.

Well there is a canteen which has not yet started operations. There is the NTPC canteen which is extremely cheap - e.g Masala Dosa for Rs 7 - but food there isn't so good. There are also some eating outlets inside the campus which are quite popular among students. Most students bring their own lunch.

Since it is located in the one of the outermost areas of Delhi, there's no place to chill nearby and most students prefer to head straight back to their home. Once in a while they do go to South Delhi's malls like Select City Walk Saket, MGF Metropolitan and DLF Place. Other places include Qutub Minar, Badarpur market a dhaba called London Farms.

Girl:Boy ratio is very low. In fact for some of the batches there was not even a single girl in class. Crowd here is kind of mixed - some good students coming from Delhi-NCR and some rowdy ones too making the college unsafe for girls. There are also a few students coming all the way from interiors of Bihar, Haryana and UP.

Due to lack of large crowd of its own and feeble response from other colleges, MANCHAYAN the annual cultural festival does not get the success students wish for. Annual sports fest Tachyon is an event which gets enthusiastic participation from students.

Attendance is not a matter of concern at NPTI (NR). Students having attendance as low as 10-20% generally don't face any problem. Institute gives lot of free time which proves as a catalyst for those who want to prepare for entrance exams like GATE, CAT, GRE and many more.
