The faculty for the first year is common to all the branches, and students say most are good. Even later as subjects specialize, the faculties are not bad, and if you attend their lectures and study during exams, you can get through. Tuitions might not be absolutely necessary, but there are students who feel the need to take tuitions. The teachers are approachable even though not the most experienced. Although there are some issues with a few subjects here and there, but overall the teachers are sincere and hard working.

The campus is located among lush green fields on all the sides, and the walk through the fields is usually pleasant. Spread over a decent area, various departments and workshops are distributed in blocks spread out in the campus. Not the most planned and well utilized campus around, and unlike other campuses, which have sprawling lawns and well planned campuses, GITS lacks that kind of a planned landscape. Currently Electrical, ECE, and IC departments are in the main building, and Mechanical department is in the other smaller building. The main building is normal, but the other building is in a bad state. Rooms are just walls with lights and fans, with no attention towards making it slightly more pleasant or at least comfortable, and of course the benches aren’t skipped. Students are now more hopeful than ever, because the trust has changed and things may get better. The benches are cushioned, ad classes comfortable so much in contrast with the other building. Labs are getting better, after the new trust has been active in getting new equipment. The library is also just about decent but it’s not the types that would dazzle you with its resourcefulness. Just a humble library, students have 2 library cards to issue books, and most the times students manage to find book, but well before the exam times, later there could be rush. Wi-Fi and internet access in available at the computer labs, and about 10-15 machines are dedicated for internet access in a lab of about 100 machines. Sports facilities are absolutely none, and seems long before anything on that front could happen in GITS.

Placements are held combined with Sabar Insititute of Technology (SIT), and Tatva Institute of Technology Studies (TITS) which are colleges running under the same trust, and just going by that, students expect it to be good. And the TPO reassures the students and expects students to maintain good aggregate and the rest shall be managed.

Probably the farthest college that students from Ahmedabad or Gandhinagar opt for. GITS is about 50 Km from Gandhinagar and about 65 Km from Ahmedabad (obviously more for those who stay southwards). Located about a kilometer off the highway, GITS has railway lines passing right behind the campus, but the trains do not cause any disturbance. The college starts at 9:15 AM, and students travelling from far have to start their day early so as to make it on time. The college also provides a college bus.
but most prefer ST buses for the cost and convenience. Because the buses have fixed pick up times, and the fleet is only 4 buses big, so it anyway falls short for students and more buses are required. And ST buses drop right on the highway, and then a narrow cemented road cutting through plantation fields 1 KM long must be covered on foot.

The college does not provide for hostels on campus, so students opt for hostels around. Vedant Ashray is a popular hostel where many students from GITS reside. Food is good, facilities nice, internet, television, fridge and laundry is available. Private rooms are also available, but staying at hostel is convenient, and preferable.

The canteen is accommodated in the workshop block, and is just bad. Food served is also bad. Although the guys running the canteen are sweet, you can rely on them for tasty food. Chai and snacks are okay, but meals (lunch) is very typical and students do not prefer eating there. Packet food and cold drinks are available which are thankfully normal. Since the canteen is small, many have their lunch in the classrooms itself.
Those living in hostels in near-by areas take lunch at 8:30 in the morning before leaving for college. Food at the hostels is usually good, and homely.

There is absolutely nothing around the college to spend time at. Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar are both far, and most students wish to get home after college, as soon. Himmatnagar is relatively closer and the hostelites don’t mind going there once in a while. There is a theatre in Mahavir Nagar, Himmatnagar to catch up with new films. Students have to go to bus stop to buy books, for which you get rickshaw at Rs.5 per head. Apart from that, there’s a settlement around the hostels where there are hotels, shops, mobile recharges available. So that about the hangouts, and it’s pretty much boring.

Many students hail from North Ahemdabad – Naroda side areas of the city, while those from outside Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar are from Surat and Kathiawad areas of the state. The crowd is friendly and although everyone is a part of their respective groups, group-ism is seldom observed here. The college is relatively new, and people want to know each other so interaction is good.

There are no extracurricular activities in the college; the students are charged money even for the Fresher’s party and that too in Ahmedabad. Apart from that, there is no other celebration all through the year.

The college is very strict about attendance and bunking college is absolutely impractical. Students need to maintain at least 75% attendance. In case you bunk the college, and escape they security guards might chase you down and get you back to the college. Yet there are ways students manage bunking, but that also is rare, and requires guts.
CCTV installed in the college, so it’s hard for students to escape, and even after that are the security guards, escaping them is next to impossible.

A relatively new college, which stills needs development, and a lot seems to be happening. The college is generally very strict about the discipline and attendance parts. The location is certainly a major issue of consideration for local students. Generally students manage the timings, but it still gets pretty hectic for students travelling about 60 KM daily. Only time can show how the college performs about the placement, but think twice before making this college your prime choice. There are other better options in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad.
