The teaching staff at SCT is not at all classy, of course we mean in the teaching sense. You’ll meet a lot of teachers who have just finished their B.Tech and M.Tech and are teaching important subjects. The ECE faculty is definitely better than the rest. Staff is experienced, knowledgeable and friendly as well. Mechanical teachers are inexperienced and lack senior faculty. Communication is mostly in English but a few teachers conduct lectures in Kannada.
Students say that Aeronautical department is one of the best in Bangalore (though it’s offered in fewer colleges). Teaching staff for aeronautical course is impressive and are well versed with their subjects.
The college had a good reputation some 6 to 8 years ago (read faculty) but due to management issues the college has come down drastically. Moreover, the college was shut down in 2005 due to some disputes within the management committee.

Terrible! The six storey SCT building has average classrooms with no fans. Only a couple of classrooms have got a fan while most of them spend the 8 hours of college without any electricity. Fortunately, wooden benches are comfortable enough to sit. Labs are equipped with good instruments but a handful of them don’t work. Students say the lab assistants don’t take utmost care of the equipments and thus students suffer at the end. Lack of drinking water facility, no elevators and no wifi connectivity makes the college infrastructure pretty bad. Internet labs are available but students aren’t allowed to use it freely. Library is loaded with books for all the courses. Sadly, they aren’t updated and you might land up with an old edition. An average playground and a striking white and blue colour jet (for aeronautical students) are the only striking features of this college.

Companies have started visiting the campus only a couple of years back. Till then, there wasn’t a placement cell. Mass recruiters like TCS, Accenture and Infosys are also not seen in the campus during the placement season. Unisys recruits students from the ECE and CS/IS background. Only toppers get placed. Local BPO’s are seen participating in the campus placement at SCT Institute of Technology. Average pay package is around 2.5 lakhs per annum and the placement rate would be around 20% to 30% of the batch. Students say they certainly deserve a better placement and would want more companies to visit the campus.

SCT Institute of Technology is located pretty far from the main city in Vignana Nagar in East Bangalore. The nearest BMTC bus stop is Vignana Nagar where the frequency of buses is just about average. You can expect buses to come every 15-20 minutes going to the main destination. Some prefer to commute by their respective two wheelers while a major chunk travels by BMTC buses. Even though the college is pretty famous in the same area, accessibility is an issue.

College provides hostel facility only for girls. Boys hostel was shut down a couple years ago so boys prefer to stay on PG in the nearby area where the rent is around Rs. 4000 per month. Girls’ hostel has average facilities with 3 to 4 sharing a single room.
It’s advised to stay on PG rather the college hostel.

Horrible! The canteen looks like a small roadside stall with marble sitting arrangement for around 15 to 20 people. Food is not at all tasty and lacks variety big time. Students would prefer to starve than eat the canteen food.

As the area is pretty dull and aloof, you can’t expect to have any happening or for that matter even simple hangout places. Sneha and Shanti Sagar restaurants are a few to name. Students either go to the main city or areas like Koramangala and Whitefield which are pretty far from the college.

The college has a good blend of students from Bangalore city and other parts of Karnataka. You might even meet a few students from other regions of India especially North. Even though the campus is huge, you hardly see anyone loitering around. Some feel the crowd is dull. ECE, CS and IS have a good ratio of boys to girls while mechanical department is purely dominated by boys. Nothing shocking, actually!! Overall, crowd is something which wouldn’t attract anyone to the college.

Attendance scenario is not very strict at SCT compared to other engineering colleges in Bangalore. Even though the norm says 85%, students say that 65% is also okay. The college demands minimum 60% failing which students have to pay a fine anything from Rs. 500 to Rs. 5000 depending upon the subject teacher, severity and percentage of attendance. 2 to 3 students have been detained in the past. Well, that’s a rare case! If you’re ready to pay fine, you can bunk happily but maintaining up to 60% shouldn’t be a problem for most!
Mechanical students have to follow a dress code during their practical sessions which is khakhi colour shirt and pant.

In a nutshell, SCT Institute of Technology is not one of the best engineering colleges in the city. Poor infrastructure, lack of experienced teachers, pathetic campus life and terrible job scenario gives a big thumbs down to the college. Students feel that if placement department is improved, the college will definitely be one of the good engineering colleges in the city.
