Earlier college was quite reputed for its mechanical department. But that has changed in recent times and it seems that a lot of good professors have left the college. Many junior teachers have been appointed in their place who in spite of knowing their subject are not able to communicate well in English & resort to Kannada often. The scenario is similar in all departments but ECE is slightly better than others.

The infrastructure of BTLIT is just about average. Although the campus is pretty big and spacious with comfortable and airy classrooms, main problem lies with the lab equipment which is ancient and works intermittently. Many books in library are old edition ones & new books are not actually used by the students as they’re reference books. Wifi internet is there in the campus but it goes down every once in a while. LAN is reliable but it’s there in only a limited number of comps.

Very bad. Hardly 10-15 students get placement. Very few companies visit campus for recruitment and even those who come are not very big companies.

BTL Institute of Technology (BTLIT) is located on Hosur Main Road in the South-Eastern region of Bangalore. It is very very far from the city, almost halfway to Hosur, however reaching here shouldn’t be a trouble as a lot BMTC buses ply to college. 360, 600 series and 356 series are the buses starting from Majestic and they all come via different routes covering various areas of the city. College also runs a chargeable bus service which costs about 7,000 a year but people don’t prefer it over the efficient and cheaper BMTC.

College provides hostels in campus which are quite decent. But the mess food is awful. When complained about they change the caterer and food quality improves for a few days then it’s the same again. Hostel charges are 48k per year for hostel including food.

There are 2 canteens which are starkly different in terms of type of dishes served, food quality and the number of people coming in to have food. One of the canteens is a stationary shop cum bakery where you get rolls, puffs, apple pie and packaged items. It’s better out of the 2 canteens and majority of the students prefer it over the other canteen. However there’s absolutely no sitting space here. The other canteen is a small, dark & shady kind of place where south Indian dishes and full meals are available. The food in this canteen is unhygienic and not even tasty.

Due to its remote location students generally prefer to stay in the campus even if they bunk. Playing in the ground is favourite past-time of many students. There are some restaurants and eateries in Electronic city. For those bored with college canteen. There is a waterfall at Pearl Valley, 10kms from the college where students go in monsoon.

The crowd coming in at BTLIT is a mixture of urban, sub-urban, rural and NRIs. Girls are scarily less in number in Mech department but overall ratio of Boys to Girls is 60:40 which is pretty decent. Overall the crowd is very friendly here but be prepared to find all types of students including a few dreary and unpleasing faces.

'Esperanza' is the annual festival of BTLIT held in April. Though it's an intercollege fest not many people from other colleges finally turn up. In fact not all students even from this college participate in it & some students feel like making fun of it. The college also has a Society for Automotive Engineers (SAE) which is pretty active and keeps coming up with interesting little events all round the year.

It really depends on the department in which you are. Mech is pretty chilled out; attendance up to 50% is okay. All other departments ask for at least 75% and they’re becoming increasingly strict over time. ECE is the department which is most particular about attendance and they are said to be taking serious actions against defaulters. But in the end all they want is that you study and are considerate about lack of attendance for toppers.

B.T.L Institute of Technology (BTLIT) is a college where one can choose to study & score well in exam if he or she wishes to as they don't give undue troubles to good students for attendance. Else you can opt to not study, attend lectures & enjoy your college life in free time. It's an ideal college for average scorers. The biggest disadvantage being its location which is quite far from the center of city. Considering all the factors, students like to rate their college as 6 on 10.
