As DY Patil School of Engineering has only recently begun, it would be foolish to expect fantastic teaching for all topics. It’s a mixed bunch of seniors and newly appointed teachers. But all the teachers are friendly with the students, regardless of their seniority. A few professors are highly experienced and their teaching is exceptionally good.

D Y Patil knowledge city at Lohegaon is an integrated campus comprising engineering, architecture, management colleges and hostels. It’s huge and the school of engineering, like other colleges under same aegis, has got a 7 storey building which is still under construction. The library is very spacious and has a varied collection of books with multiple authors for each of the subjects. Classrooms are clean and nicely ventilated. There is high speed Wi-Fi connectivity in the campus available 24x7. Labs are also decent but nothing exceptional about them. Other facilities like seminar halls, a big auditorium, projectors which actually work are also made available. There are also a lot of recreational facilities such as a huge football ground, a swimming pool and indoor games. Overall the infrastructure is great and students rate it as 8 on 10.

The first batch has not passed yet so it is too early to comment about placements.

DY Patil School of Engineering is located in an absolutely remote area to which the closest civilization would be the semi-urban locality of Lohegaon, about 14km from the centre of Pune. Generally students travel by their private vehicle to college, or may be they HAVE to. PMT buses are available up to Lohegaon from where you can take the college bus. It's an enjoyable ride to the college from Lohegaon with plenty of farms and fabulous scenic beauty to look at while you wonder when will you actually reach the college.

The canteen and hostel mess are common. It is very spacious and easily accommodates all the students during lunch time. A variety of dishes are served here ranging from soup to salad to chicken to pastries. All of them are tasty. It can be said to be slightly over priced for a mess.

There isn’t much near the college except a few Dhabas. Those who love photography and trekking will probably enjoy being in this college as it is surrounded by hills. It’s quite a sight during monsoons when they are lush green. But if you wish to chill out in a coffee shop or munch on a grilled sandwich, hop on your scooter and head for Viman Nagar, a 30-minute drive from here.

There’s a huge variety of crowd in terms of backgrounds and hometown and no single group forms a majority. You can find students from various regions of the country ranging from Kashmir to Kerala. Students from metros as well as rural areas come to study at DY Patil School of Engineering. So making friends with like-minded people shouldn’t be a tough task here. Boys to Girls ratio is a little poor but it has drastically improved over last year's 1:6 to 1:3.

Students claim that DY Patil School of Engineering doesn’t believe in celebrating any college festivals and certainly doesn’t encourage students who take an initiative to organize it.

College pretends to be strict about attendance. 75% is expected but 70% works just fine. If you fail to keep up with it a list of defaulters is put up and their parents are called. A few teachers give extra assignments to defaulters but there are many others who are least bothered about attendance. However no stern action is usually taken unless your attendance is really poor.

DY Patil School of Engineering, Lohegaon has a lovely campus and helpful faculties on the plus side. On the negative side it is located in a remote area and is new and there is a certain amount of uncertainty about placements. One can expect them to be comparable to other reputed D Y Patil campuses but one never be sure.
